Ruby

Some people plan a voyage for two years and then write three lines about the one evening they have in port. Ruby is twenty-five and would rather have the long version, because an hour runs better when nothing has to be worked out from scratch in the room. De Pijp is her base, and the ride out to a hotel on the water is one she makes often enough not to think about it. English is what she works in, and she writes back in whole sentences rather than in fragments. Brunette, warm, and what is said in a room stays with her once she has gone.

Ruby decides which bookings she takes and may decline any of them; she sets the limits for what a session includes, says what they are, and may end a visit at any point, as the terms set out.
