People come off a long voyage rested and oddly stiff at once, which is what a week of narrow corridors and a small cabin does to a body. Harper is twenty-seven and unpicks that slowly, starting at the back and shoulders and staying there longer than a guest expects her to. De Pijp is her base, and she knows the hotels along the water well enough not to need directions to any of them. English is the language she works in, written and spoken, and she names what she is doing before she does it. Brunette, strong hands, and she would rather have ninety minutes than sixty when a couple can spare them.

Harper decides which bookings she takes and may decline any of them; she sets the limits for what a session includes, says what they are, and may end a visit at any point, as the terms set out.
